Achieving Your Internet Marketing Dream

Achieving your internet marketing dream is not impossible, but it is also not as easy as most people would like to think. It still takes a lot of hard work, among many other things.
Achieving your internet marketing dream is not impossible, but it is also not as easy as most people would like to think. It still takes a lot of hard work, among many other things. If you really want a list of steps or check list of things that will help contribute to your internet marketing success, here it is.

Will
The will is the very first thing you must have. This will propels you to take necessary actions to achieving whatever your goal is in this business. If you have the will, you will eventually find that things in your life will fall into place accordingly with this will. This is the first thing you must consider to succeed.

Character
The character is also equally important. Sheer will, definitely will not take you anywhere if you do not have the character to back it up. Do you have the patience, persistence and right attitude when it comes to dealing with people and procedures in your business? These are unspoken but important rules for you.

Steps or Strategy
Never miss a single step. This is what most people pay to have mentors for. Steps or a right strategy helps you become more able to track your progress and know where you are headed. The right steps to take in your internet marketing business will ensure that you will not have to worry about missing anything as you do it.

Goal
Your goal is what marks the end of your success road map. Where are you headed and what you intend to accomplish with what you do is the very thing that will sustain you and will keep you looking forward to doing business. Your goal will help you determine your options and steps, and this will keep you from evil distractions.

Plan
Your plan is just as important. Once you have made up your mind with regard to your goal, the next thing to do is have a viable plan of action. If you are well able to construct your plan and be ready for those worst case scenarios, you won’t be caught offguard by developments. In this business, it really pays to be flexible.

Team
Who is the right team for your business? Be it known that you can never do it alone as you flourish in this business. You will need other people’s expertise to replenish your system, and you will also be able to benefit much from acquiring the services of others in achieving your goals for your internet marketing business.

Execution
Now that everything is settled and you now have a team to back you up, the next thing to consider is your execution. When and how—these are two of the more pressing questions in the execution of your internet marketing pursuits. The execution aspect is just as important as the part where you made the plan.

Routine
Your routine is not really a requirement, but it is a thing that has worked for most people who are in the business. While you do no really work for an employer, you are still a creature of routine, and the best way to incorporate your business is to make it natural enough so you can adjust your life to it accordingly.

Manga -- The Japanese Comic Book Era

Manga is a Japanese word which when translated to English becomes “comic book. Osamu Tezuka is referred to as the god of manga. The animated forms of manga have become very popular in the anime arena, but they began as comic books.

Manga is a Japanese word which when translated to English becomes "comic book." When referring to manga, anyone not from Japan is talking of a Japanese comic book. These are cartoons drawn and published on paper. Like in the U.S. with Superman and Spiderman, manga in Japan has its stars.

Osamu Tezuka is referred to as the god of manga. He created Astro Boy, following from the inspiration of Walt Disney characters such as Mickey Mouse and Bambi. You can see the inspiration in his characters' large eyes that allows the artist to show much expressive emotions within the story line.

Tezuka created the genre known as Mecha, which is fictional machinery and robots in humanoid form. The animated forms of manga have become very popular in the anime arena, but they began as comic books.

Any manga-ka (manga writer) enjoys portraying the fantasy world, and the popular comics show regular people doing ordinary things but enter other attributes that make the character special. Ordinary teens will come home from school, do their homework, run errands, etc, but at the same time, you will discover they have some special power, friends that are unusual or who are not from this world or other fantasy traits that make the story come alive. Manga are like novels, which have characters that stay consistent for the most part, but change like any person who moves through life and has different experiences. They grow in knowledge and expand on their philosophy and change from episode to episode due to this growth and learning.

Manga started as early as 1914 in Japan with cartoon drawings becoming popular and increasing in popularity in 1918. In 1951 it really took off with the Astro Boy creation, and exploded into anime a few years later.

One popular manga is Dragon Head that consists of three books. In this series, three high-school students are the only survivors after the train they are on wrecks and kills hundreds of their classmates. They are buried in the train within a collapsed tunnel and have little hope of rescue. With true visual storytelling, the creator of the series, Minetaro Mochizuki, achieves excitement and dread as the reader progresses.

Perhaps a manga already a best seller is one entitled Phoenix Volume One: Dawn. Osamu Tezuka created Phoenix and this famous illustrator and storyteller stretches the story from the dawn of Japanese history through into the far future. In a wonderful blend of myth, fantasy and historical accuracies, he has made a story that is profound, and as it goes forward, the reader will find deep meanings within.

There is also Naruto, a manga series written and illustrated by Masashi Kishimoto. There is an anime adaptation as well. The main character is an unpredictable and hyperactive teenage ninja who is always searching for approval. He strives to become the leader of all the ninja in his village. This manga was published first in 1999, but is still at the top of the manga list, with about 46,000 people looking for the term monthly in the most popular search engines.

Is manga popular? The answer is a most definite YES. Around 131,000 manga lovers search for the term each month on the Internet, and this is growing in leaps and bounds. Of a certain polled group, it was found that a little over 33% had over 15 gigs of manga on the hard drive of their computer. Yes, it is certainly popular and no signs of it slowing down.

Anime -- The Popular Animated Japanese Art And Artists

Anime is, of course, an abbreviation of the word “animation.” All animation must first be hand-drawn by the artist, and these artists have mostly also done comic renditions for comic books and started out with that as their goal. The artist could have free reign to create whatever kind of characters they wanted. One of the most popular anime series is called Inuyasha, a feudal fairy tale.

Starting in the early 1960s, anime has blossomed into one of the most popular forms of entertainment in the world. Originating in Japan as comic books and magazines, and going on to animated forms, the series of incredible stories developed with various characters, their life and growth have attracted fans around the entire planet, both young and old.

Anime is, of course, an abbreviation of the word "animation." There are a wide variety of artistic styles in anime because it depends on the specific style of the artist or studio and what they create in their own imagination. In many series, the characters have large, round eyes and big hair but this isn't always the case.

All animation must first be hand-drawn by the artist, and these artists have mostly also done comic renditions for comic books and started out with that as their goal. This then expanded into the animation sector, and was often assisted by other animators in studios, sometime using computer techniques. The procedure of turning drawn cartoons into animation is a long and complicated one but fulfilling for both the artist and eventual viewer.

Early on, the Japanese film industry solved the problem of low budgets and other restrictions by making their movies from the characters in the early comic books. The artist could have free reign to create whatever kind of characters they wanted. Since Japanese anime usually emphasizes backgrounds for atmosphere, any scene whatsoever was possible, from the big city, nature, to different countries around the globe and even outer space settings. Thus any story line could be complimented by the illustration coming from the artist's free creativity. Any sort of action and activity was feasible, from wild fights, to whole cities blowing up. The possibilities were endless.

The artists of these characters and story lines often took part in the animation process, sometimes devoting literally years to creating the series. The anime went on to become television broadcasts and occasionally full-length movies.

One of the most popular anime series is called Inuyasha, a feudal fairy tale. Rumko Takahashi, a Japanese manga (comic book) artist, developed the tale originally. Her incredible talents led her to become the best selling female comic artist in history. Studios adapted her comic illustrations to the screen, and now there are currently about 167 episodes of Inuyasha on DVD for all to enjoy. It is still an on-going plot and thus fans can continue to enjoy Inuyasha far into the future.
DragonBall, another extremely popular series, was created by Akira Toriyama who spent over 11 years producing hundreds of episodes. Over 160,000 people a month search for DragonBall Z on the main search engines, and it is likely growing by the day.

Credit must be given to the Japanese culture for producing such original and thoroughly enjoyable entertainment for all ages. It has competed with the American cartoon industry that has mostly concentrated on the children of our culture, but now competes with the animated movies becoming more and more popular in present day.

Top Reasons To Recycle Inkjet Cartridges

Find out the top reasons why you should be recycling your empty inkjet cartridges.

Recycling empty inkjet cartridges is an easy way for anybody to help to reduce the impact on our landfills.

To start with, almost 3 entire pounds of resources involved in production are saved when a cartridge is recycled.

Next, an average inkjet cartridge takes an average of 3.5 oz. of oil to be manufactured. This can really add up over time.

The third reason you should recycle or reuse your empty inkjet cartridges is to reduce the strain on local landfills. An inkjet cartridge does not biodegrade in a landfill, as other waste will over time. Once a cartridge is discarded, it will be there for several hundred years. Did you know that each year over 300 million printer cartridges are thrown away? This equates into about 75,000 tons of garbage. To give you an idea how much that is, that he is equal in late to nearly 30,000 full grown African elephants.

The forth reason is the buying remanufactured (recycled) inkjet cartridges continue money. Recycling your empty cartridges provides empty cores to cartridge remanufacturing companies that in turn, professionally refill and sell to users at a discounted price. Consumers will see the same reliability, performance and quality as using an original brand OEM cartridge but at a lower cost.

When the customer runs out of ink, they place the empty cartridge into the postage paid mailing box and drop it in the mail. When the cartridge refilling company receives the empty cartridge, the refilling service cleans, inspects, and professionally refills the cartridges and mails it back to the customer.

In about one week the refilled cartridge is returned. This provides a big savings over buying a new cartridge and also lowers the strain on our landfills.

Why recycle? Why not recycle?

It reduces garbage, saves money, saves natural resources, and as the responsible thing to do.
Just because an empty inkjet cartridge is out of ink, doesn't mean it's broken.

It just means that its prime for recycling.

Subliminal Messages - Control Your Thoughts and Create Your

We are the creators of our own destiny, but we can mold the life as a bed of roses depending upon the thoughts. If we can tune the subconscious mind, we can conquer the whole world.

We all are aware of the fact that we are the architect of all that occurs in all of our lives. We tend to create our physical life experience through our thoughts. Accurately, every thought that we think of gives birth to a creation. So indeed every thought has creative power to perform. In general, the subconscious accepts whatever you pretend is real and will use it to create your outer reality. The thoughts that you think, regarding those things that you want, set into action the formation, and eventual fulfillment of that which you want. And likewise, the thoughts that you assume, regarding those things that you do not want, set into motion the creation, and eventual fulfillment of that which you do not want.

You might be aware of the technique “Creative Visualization” used to create what you want in your life. In simple terms, it is your natural power of imagination that you are already using it every minute. Creative visualization is nothing but imagining or thinking what you want to be rather than what you don't want. It is what your subconscious brain really thinks of. Imagining what you want is like creating a replica before you construct the real thing. The images direct the energy in your body. You have planned your life yourself. You did not create anything in your outer reality that is a stranger to you. There is comfort to be had by looking at your "outer circumstances" and realize that this is a perfect reflection of what you truly believe as a soul. With each breath, with each liveliness, you send out this essence of yourself, which blends with other essences and creates and re-creates your physical environment.

Feel yourself centered within and sending out waves of your energy. See it radiation outward from your physical being and into the environment, where it becomes an extension of yourself. Recognize that the things you perceive "out there" are the manifestation of your thoughts, formed by YOUR energy into symbols of the inner you, your essence, and your soul. You are the architect of the whole thing in your life. Nothing happens against your perceptions. The inner desire of the wise and cognizant soul is to externalize, to create a concrete materialization of what it internally holds to be true and thereby experience that trust. It is through that experience that the transformation occurs.

Your life is not your master, it is your child. Every flash of your life is substantially creative and the world is eternally bountiful. Just put forth a clear enough appeal and everything your heart wishes must come to you. Emotions help you create truth and thus the reality. When you deem in something, love, desire, and want it, you can build it more quickly. If there is anything you want to become conscious of, focus upon it. Whatever you turn your attention to, you will create. Life is really very easy and effortless. What we confer out, we get back. You create foundation with the thoughts that you think. Beliefs generate thoughts and emotions, which create your inner experience and outer reality. If any area of your life is not working, one of your beliefs in that area simply needs to be enhanced. You can easily control your thoughts and create your life with deliberate intent. Come on Get it and conquer the world.

Get Out Of Your Own Way - Tips on Becoming A Success

Ever wonder why the all pervasive hot tips on becoming rich, successful and desirable never work for you? It may be because you don’t have the relationship with yourself that sets the stage for success. The most valuable tool you possess is the connection you have with your rational adult self, and that with your wishful, magical child self. When they work together the sky is the limit. When they each pretend the other doesn’t exist, you end up stuck and marking time. The example of Tracy below indicates how poor communication between the two selves limits her path to achieving her dreams.

Tracy longs to be acknowledged and looked up to for being an achiever. She wants to be desirable to men and have a relationship that she can rely on. She would like to get a college degree and earn lots of money. Whenever she finds someone who shows an interest in her, or an opportunity for a well paying challenging job she turns it into something distasteful. As soon as the possibility presents itself for her to get what she wants, she throws away the gift by not showing up, and disrespecting the gift givers. She kills off her desire the moment it becomes a real prospect, denying herself her dreams. She feels powerful when controlling her needs, but this is temporary. Very soon she is bemoaning her unsatisfactory life and envious of those who are successful.

It takes both the child’s excitement and zest for life to create wishes and visions for your life, and the adult to make it a reality. Both operate within you. Those like Tracy who self-sabotage, operate by splitting the child and adult parts into two warring camps. The adult conducts life in order to survive by achieving the basic minimum for that purpose - satisfactory interpersonal skills, high school diploma, and a respectable if mediocre job. The child is blind to the ways and means for success. For to be aware would mean taking responsibility and acting on it. That often stirs up the terror of having to go through life alone. The internal dialogue of the blind part goes something like this, “ if I can manage my life and take care of things, I will not need anyone, and therefore I will not have any excuse for seeking out attachments. I cannot survive alone, so it is better not to be grown up and responsible.’

Apparent advantages in keeping the adult and child part of you separate
* Killing off your desires means killing off yourself - so no need to make an effort
* You convince yourself that you are strong and need nothing and nobody
* You avoid the risks of attempting new things, failing and being disappointed
* You have someone else to blame when things go wrong
* You can legitimately ask to be taken care of in ways that work for you

Disadvantages of keeping the child and adult part of you separate
* You feel empty and unsatisfied
* You use temporary means to quell the emptiness like food, sex, substances, to no avail.
* You go through life blind to your own power
* You deprive yourself of what you most want, and feel a failure
* You are miserable, envious of others and angry when that child part of you isn’t taken care of.
* People don’t take care of you for very long, and you do end up alone
Tips on Becoming Your Own Success Story
* Begin a supportive dialogue between the child and adult parts of yourself
* Accept that you have both these parts, good and bad and that the sum of all the parts is the greatest, strongest and best hope you have for being successful.
* Give yourself permission to meet your own needs. If you take care of yourself, others will be attracted to you and be willing to partner with you in that process.
* Learn the art of asking for what you want, rather than expecting others to know and magically provide it for you.
* You are the author of your own biography. Begin to write it by relating to yourself as an ally and not an enemy from whom you need protection.

Anime vs Manga

If you are a manga fan and reading up on the latest anime and manga releases and the history of the subject, you will find there has been a lot of confusion between anime and manga. Oftentimes, fans will ask others on forums or on blogs or in chat rooms what the difference is. But this is like having the blind lead the blind in most cases.

There are experts who visit these sites and can answer questions intelligently, but since they do not usually leave links to back up their claims, it can be unclear if what they say is true or if they are really experts. If you go to an online encyclopedia, you often find so much information to wade through with so many big words, it's hard to fully make sense of it all.

Suffice it to say that manga means Japanese comic books, or in other words, those drawn-on-paper cartoons originating in Japan. Similar to the American comics with Superman and Spiderman, these comics were often made into different series and are still produced in quantity. Anime is animation, or you could say, the animated versions of manga.

Any animation actually needs to start out as a cartoon drawing of some kind. Manga artists create the characters and story line, then their drawings are made into animated film. The animation process is long and detailed, and takes a number of talented people to bring off the final product. The artists who originally create the character, his personality and the scene where the action takes place play a large part in the production of the anime.

Sometimes, besides the creator of the manga itself, studios take the artwork and make the backgrounds and other details with the labors of other animators. These drawings are combined and photographed or scanned as one piece, making an entire scene with the character, extras and the sights of a modern city or whatever is being portrayed. Thus anime is created.
Rumko Takahashi created the popular series, Inuyasha and Ranma ½. She does the original drawings and assists in the animation process along with other artists in the studio that produce the final anime. And so it is with many manga-kas (manga writers).

Which came first, manga or anime? That is easy to answer in studying the history of cartoon drawing. In Japan, the most famous manga artists were in production in the 1940s, for they were producing cartoons regarding the World War in progress at the time. That doesn't mean there weren't other cartoonists prior to this time. Certainly there were.

In the U.S., comics were in vogue early on. As early as the late 1700s, Benjamin Franklin started the first editorial cartoon. This soon expanded to the longer comic strips, the first of which was drawn by Richard Outcault in 1895. Then in the 1930s there were the debuts of such heroes as Superman and Batman.

The IPod – A Gadget To Change Lifestyles

Sometimes we are left wondering what we are doing with our lives. A similar revelation took place recently when I read an article on Apple selling its 100 millionth iPod. Having heard about it all these years as a wonder gadget, I’d just let it pass by, assuming it to be an advanced version of the Sony walkman, or Diskman at most. How wrong I was!

A visit to the Apple website opened my eyes. Starting from the smallest sized Mini that has a capacity of 1GB, to the latest fifth generation 80GB Video there is a huge variety to suit each need. Besides these two, iPods are available in sizes of 2GB, 4GB, 10GB and 30GB. When I pause to think that just a few years ago I was the proud owner of a PC with a HDD of a then princely 4 GB, I feel humbled.

Why, even my current laptop (bought the latest available three years ago) has a now seemingly low 30GB of space. One look at the iPod and I didn’t know where to hide! Is it time for me to exchange my laptop for the little magical gadget, then? Well, maybe not quite, but even that time is not far I guess. The iPod offers multiple choices for its users, the very basic being its function of allowing you to download music from the Apple website and a host of others. Apple allows downloads which are compatible with its in-house development, the itunes music software that allows seamless integration with the audio.

Now here’s the best part - you don’t have to restrict yourself to just music. There’s a host of options available – like listening to audio books that you always wanted to read but could never find the time for. Or you could listen to those French lessons you always wanted to take while driving to work, and slowly, at that – the iPod allows you to run the audio at variable speeds. The author of the article I read, a doctor by profession, uses it to store his patients’ x rays and medical histories, always carrying a ready bank of medical cases to refer to. Others use it as a travel companion, downloading the latest movies and watching it at leisure on the 2.5-inch LCD screen. 80GB is a lot of space.

You can even hook up your iPod to a host of accessories like a Bose stereo, your TV, or even your car audio. Use the convenient charger to charge it from your laptop, or use a common adapter for your car charger. The battery life achieved depends upon the usage – the least batteries being consumed while listening to audio, and the maximum, naturally, seeing video. Besides the Apple website, the iPod is one of the hottest selling items on ebay as well. Not to mention the thousands of other online stores whose sales figures I didn’t have time to check out.

You have a choice between buying a brand new 80GB iPod ranging upto the current $350 on the Apple website, or a refurbished one generally available cheap on one of the e-auction sites. Going by the reviews to the refurbished ones (which are basically nearly new iPods, but gone faulty due to some reason and now repaired), not many people are complaining. So maybe it’s not a bad option if you want to save a few dollars. Don’t think any more. It is not a product - it’s a phenomenon. As for life passing me by - I’ve already ordered one!

Digital Camera Purchase Advice

Digital Camera has become a very popular consumer item, since it makes so easy and cheap to take pictures. However, some buyers are impulsive by nature and they are hardly aware of the standard features of digital cameras. Only after using the camera, they may realize its drawbacks. Therefore, it is important to know some standard features of digital cameras so that one can make the right decisions while buying this gadget.

The following are some standard features:
Computing Platform: Most digital cameras have interface compatibility with Mac as well as Windows operating system platforms. However, some cameras might have more software for one platform than the other, where as a few will work only on one platform. In this case, usually these cameras work on Windows platform.

Image Quality: It basically includes factors such as exposure accuracy, color purity, optics (lens) quality and image compression techniques.

Onboard Image Capacity: Whether a specific amount of onboard image capacity is sufficient or not depends largely on your application. Image capacity and image quality share a strong co-relation with each other. For instance, there is not point in having a digital camera that offers high image capacity whereas the amount of storage is not adequate in relation to the resolution. Beware of the cameras that promise a large number of images but lack actual storage space. It might affect the image quality of your photos. Standard onboard camera memory might range from 2 to 16 MB and the image storage capacity can vary from 10 to 100+ images, depending on the image resolution.

Reusable Memory Cards: There are quite a few digital cameras that allow storing images on plug-in cards and this enables users to add as much or as little memory to the camera as per individual requirement. Unlike the older version of memory card where a single type of memory card known as Liner PCMCIA was being extensively used, now memory cards can be found in different types. Some of the most popular cards are Compact Flash and FlashMedia.
Exposure Versatility: Digital cameras are unable to handle different lighting conditions. This drawback is not found in film cameras as we can compensate for different lighting situations by using different types of films. So, since the image sensor of a digital camera acts as a film, users find nearly impossible to change this setup. However, you can ensure that the digital camera you are buying has the ideal camera exposure system, such as shutter speed, variable lens opening and supplementary flash to handle a wide range of shooting conditions.

Other features:
Consider buying a waterproof camera as it can withstand moistures.
The camera you are buying should preferably have ISO support for crisper and cleaner images.
Go for higher mega pixel resolution cameras, which will offer you greater cropping ability. The higher the mega pixel resolution, the more one can enlarge his photographs. But don`t get too fussy about mega pixel resolution as it is not everything in a digital camera.

Look for pre-programmed scene modes in your camera which will take photos even in the tough and challenging lighting conditions.

While buying, focus more on optical zoom of a digital camera and not so much on the digital zoom. Optical zoom makes use of lens to get closer shots and delivers better images.
Finally, you have to be careful of not being lured into buying a camera with a `package deal` offer. What costs cheaper could also be cheaper in quality too! Digital cameras have made it easy for those who want to capture special moments. Now with so many features and affordable prices, digital camera have really become a world wide consumer product.

The Motivation To End Pain

Every human being has the right to be happy. Every person is born with that right. We can be - and are - as happy as we will allow.

And yet when we look around us, we see so many people who claim no happiness at all. Or if they do, it seems so fleeting; so elusive. Being happy and content seems like trying to catch a scared butterfly with your bare hands.

Every human being is born with the inherent right and the ability to feel the full range of emotion. We have the ability to feel anything we want. Or at least we did at one time.

Unfortunately, we often end up in a hole; feeling nothing but misery. Why is that? Why would we take the greatest human gift of all - the ability to think and feel whatever we want - and basically throw that gift away?

Well, it takes time to be miserable. It takes a lot of effort. It takes a certain kind of giving up that often started a long time ago. Circumstances beat us down, and it almost always starts in childhood.

Usually, we give up due to the 'pounding' we get as children. That's where it begins. We really do take a pounding - from parents and teachers and so many others who endured their own pounding when they were young.

It's because of the patterns we formed at an early age. Patterns of thought and feeling; patterns of belief and attitude. Patterns of 'the way life is'.

Beliefs were formed long before you even knew what the word 'belief' meant. Beliefs paved the road for your direction in life. Beliefs set the stage. They defined the boundaries.

Choices, on the other hand, are like the steering wheel. They come after those early beliefs. They *can be* the escape from errant patterns. Unfortunately, they usually end up reinforcing those painful patterns instead.

Many have chosen to not make any more choices or decisions than absolutely necessary for survival. Even down to the most mundane decisions of what to eat for supper.

We don't realize that practicing making choices and decisions - even minor ones - will strengthen our ability to choose and decide. So when it comes time to make major choices and decisions we'll be better equipped. Then our choices and decisions will have impact. Because we've exercised the muscle of choice.

Then choices and decisions have a force of energy behind them that work almost like magic to change things with less effort on our part. A powerful choice provides the need for less effort and much less struggle. One powerful choice can change your life.

But what's the basic problem in all this? Because, sure, we HAVE been led down the path of misery by the reasons already mentioned: an errant world imposing its will on us when we were a blank slate.

But it doesn't have to stay that way. We can still begin to start exercising our power of choice. Right now. Today.

So what's the basic problem? Even beyond a lack of knowing how to change things?
It's this: we develop a certain level of comfort in our misery. We're comfortable with our pain. And we'd rather be in pain than to be uncomfortable.

That's often why we don't change. Because at least we know our pain. It's familiar. And change is uncomfortable. And being comfortable holds way more importance than anything else.
Better to be in pain than to be uncomfortable. For a while, anyway.

Usually it's only when pain becomes unbearable do we even BEGIN looking for answers.
What about you? What are you comfortable with right now? What are you willing to endure? How great has the pain become?

We're usually motivated by our pain once it reaches a certain level. Because pain unattended always grows. Eventually it becomes too much, and then we're FORCED to act.

The problem is, you can reach a point where it's too late to change. The pain can become so strong that no matter what you do, you can't end it. And you'll never know where that point is, until you've passed it.

It's like falling through the ice. It's like breaking a glass. You can't just make things right because now you're motivated; now you 'really want to'. Pain can break you.

The time to act is now. Risk being uncomfortable. Dare to take a stand. Move in the direction of your discomfort.

There's an unstated law that says: the more uncomfortable you're willing to be today, the less pain you'll have to endure tomorrow. Will you risk being uncomfortable? That's the real question.

Can you afford not to?

What Should You Be Selling?

Are you on a mission to save the world? Take heed, it might leave you broke. Many salespeople, uncomfortable with the title, feels it necessary to justify the function of their job. Instead of admitting freely that their objective is to get people to buy the products and services they sell, these people insist that they serve a higher purpose of connecting prospects with things they need. If this is your objective, you may have trouble reaching your quota.

Through my many years in the sales profession and my unofficial observations of human behavior I have found one fact to be true. People often worry about their needs. They think about the future consequences that they may suffer if they cannot find a way to fulfill these needs, but they rarely act upon them. Conversely, people take action when they find something they want. For some reason, the urgency of a desire is greater than that of a need; the masters of the selling game know this instinctively.

Take the following example: Peter would like to recruit his friend into his new network marketing venture. She and Peter have often talked about her lack of finances and her need to find a way to raise her income. Knowing that she is struggling financially, Peter feels this should be an easy sell. He tells her about his fast success in the business and shows her copies of the commission checks he has received since joining. He is quite surprised to find that she expresses no interest in the opportunity and turns him down.

If his prospect had already told Peter how much she needed to make more money and that is exactly what he was offering, why did she still refuse to act? The answer lies in the difference between needing and wanting. His prospect suffered from credit card debt, she had virtually nothing in savings and could not afford to join a retirement program. She needed to pay off her debt, she needed to start saving money every month and she needing to begin contributing to a retirement fund but none of those things had an immediate effect on her life.

Had she arrived at work earlier that day to receive a pink slip, she would have been much more receptive to any opportunity to make money and may have given Peter’s program a try. The point is, when the perceived consequences to not acting upon an issue are in the future (twenty years from now upon retirement) the motivation simply is not enough to act. However, when those circumstances are pushed forward (because of say an unexpected job loss) the motivation to act immediately appears quite suddenly.

So what should Peter do? Wait until she gets laid off? No. He should seek to turn his proposal from something his prospect needs into something she wants. Create that urgency himself without waiting for some third party circumstance to do it. He should also move from speaking about facts and logic to speaking about emotion and feelings.

When Peter masters the language that can bring urgency to his proposal, he will learn how to turn his product or service from a need to a want. This will increase his performance as he will find that people will act upon their wants while they only worry about their needs.
